What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your donation – at no extra cost to you. If you are a UK tax payer, Maecenas – Help the Animals can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So if you donate £100, that becomes £125 to the charity.

What do I have to do to Gift Aid?

In order for us to claim the gift aid on your donation, we need you to supply your name, home address & postcode, and also confirm you are a UK tax payer.

If you are making an online donation, please tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form, and there is no need to complete a separate paper form.

Can you claim gift aid on challenge/sponsored events?

Please encourage each person who sponsors you to tick the gift aid box on your sponsorship form, if they are a UK tax-payer, and supply their home address and postcode. This is the only legal way we can claim the gift aid on their donation to you.

Please return your sponsorship forms by post to: Help the Animals at Christmas, Programme Management, Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, 17-29 Hawley Crescent, Camden, London, NW1 8TT

How have the animal charities been selected?

Channel 5 partnered with Help the Animals to approach five leading animal charities from across in the country to ensure we were helping as many animals as possible in the UK.

This is the first time an appeal of this nature has ever been staged and we duly considered a range of animal charities from across the UK to support.  We found that the type of work carried out by the five nominated charities to be illustrative of the broad mix of activities and services we wish to support and animal welfare needs more generally.
