After a shocking mass murder at the schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, the media descends to cover the tragedy, but soon attention turns to the extraordinary forgiveness demonstrated by the bereaved Amish parents. All except for Ida Graber, who finds her faith tested to the limit by the sudden, searing loss of her daughter.

These Hamish are amazing, but their Scottish accents weren't very convincing.
a beautiful true story of how God can work in the hearts of his loved ones, whose names are written in His lambs book of life and taken God into their heart as their own personal Lord and Saviour, even through the bad times of death and grief as well as the good times of rejoicing. Open your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and let Him in to be your Lord and Saviour to have the hope of a more beautiful life and place of Glory when it is God's time to call His loved ones home to be with Him and sit at His right hand and sing with the Angels where there is no more suffering, heart ache, pain or trouble and having the hope of meeting your loved ones again that have already gone to be with the Lord who have taken Him to be their Saviour in the past life and have passed over into Glory to be more alive in Heaven than they ever could be down here. Redeemed and so happy in Jesus, Redeemed in the Blood of the Lamb, Redeemed in His infinite mercy, His Child and forever I am
great film hadn't realised it was based on a true story
a great inspirational lesson to be learnt & food for thought.
I watched this just a week on from the tragic school shooting & killing of young school children & staff .
gun laws/ownership in America needs to be seriously addressed & outlawed
Another tragic example of human sickness. 'Charlie' obviously had Big bad issues that were never addressed. His wife and family were very lucky that these peaceful people did, indeed appear to forgive this obviously deeply troubled, and deranged 'lunatic'. And, I do wonder, what exactly would have happened if he hadn't shot himself?.. A very different story, I imagine. Hope he's paying for the evil he did. He got off lightly didn't he, an excuse for a man. If he was so set on killing himself, why didn't he just go off somewhere and do it, without taking Children with him?? No excuse. Just evil.
I am thinking what to say. Beatitude, love, radical I am not sure. Wat I do know is regardless of Christian flavours God is the one that adds the sweet refreshing taste and for what ever poo happens God will turn it for the good and since He is Alpha and Omega He has the last word. Thank you for hosting this programme
I was crying most of the film but I enjoyed watching it. God Bless you and to all amish pepole, (I know that you not having internet), but you grown so much inside me today!
What a beautifual but tragic film. Christ told us to be in this world but not off this world. The Amish although they separated themselves are still subject to the battle that is not just against flesh but princilpalities and powers that come to destroy and kill. Forgiveness is not about the other person but your own soul. You can forgive but that doesn't mean that you forget or that it is a robotic act. You still have to go through the emotion of grief and anger and hate is quite normal. Forgiveness releases peace into the heart for those who know Christ as their saviour. God bless those families & may gods healing peace be with them all. xxx
I cnt believe the comments..........this was one of the worst tragedies ever....10 girls slaughtered, how can it be a fantastic movie.......get a grip people ........its not AMAZING and its not FANTASTIC.........your all sick.
Amazing film! I loved watching it. Showed great strength in the Amish community at thier greatest time of need. I remember when this happened and think the film stuck to the facts very well without glamorising it.
i loved it. they are really beautiful people. great film and a great message.
i can see that the shunning is hard to accept, but apart from that there are many great things about the amish i loved all the programmes about them with english teenagers visiting them.
A really moving film, which managed to convey so much about 1 victim and her hopes for the future in such a short amout of time, so making the sense of her loss so great and even more poignant. Beauitifully acted by all and really deeply touching. I agree with someone who commented, ironic being able to forgive those who murder, but not those who move out of the life of the Amish.
Wow!!! Tears, tears and more tears. One of most moving films I ever saw, based on true events. To forgive and love in such harsh times.... The best film on the Amish yet.
A remarkable film well scripted and a good story told, I still remember the news articles at the time, It completes the story that was left. I am pleased that the community over came the obstacles which surfaced and they remain close to their faith, this I admire in them.
Great and provocative film, like all above I did my best not to shed a tear (Failed). Based on true events, less the featured family! I did feel all the pain of the Mother and surviving Daughter. I also felt the deep pain of the Husband. Oh to have that kind of faith! Though had I that kind of faith I would have been unable to watch the Film or comment here!
Thank God for Channel 5, .PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING FILMS LIKE THIS^_^.Very inspiring film showing us the reality of the burden of unforgiveness and hatred; and that we have the freedom to choose between love and hate, good and evil, God and Satan.
A truely remarkable film.I shall remember it for a very long time.It has made me think very deeply about forgiveness!!
I hope in the future I will be able to forgive as the Amish did.

A very sad story, plenty of tears but what a wonderful example the Hamish community presents of love and forgiveness over hate and vengeance.
