Sonya Sohn

Plays Detective Samantha Baker

Born in Virginia, Sonja Sohn first came to wide industry attention after co-writing and starring in Slam, winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. After that Sohn worked primarily in studio films, including Shaft and Bringing out the Dead, before landing the role of Kima Greggs in HBO's Emmy-nominated series The Wire. In the last few years Sohn has enjoyed recurring roles on Brothers and Sisters and Cold Case, as well as appearing in The Good Wife.

Sohn is the founder and CEO of the Baltimore-based reWIRED for Change, an outreach programme intended to communicate with (and ultimately rehabilitate) at-risk young people who have been involved in criminal activity. The programme is run out of the University of Maryland School of Social Work and uses episodes of The Wire as a teaching tool, encouraging the participants to examine and query their own lives and past actions.

Having watched Sonya Sohn previously from The Wire, I am so glad to see her again in other roles. She has a lovely strong presence and really made an important mark on The Wire. So too on Body of Proof. Thank you Sonja!! Paul in UK
