Britain's Favourite Christmas Songs

Sorry, this episode is no longer available to watch on Demand 5.

Find out why

Which songs really break the ice at Christmas? The Jackson 5’s Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Greg Lake’s I Believe in Father Christmas or Jona Lewie’s Stop the Cavalry are on many lists. Do They Know It’s Christmas? might still ring true, but has Mud’s Lonely this Christmas passed its sell-by date? And where would we be without The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl's Fairytale of New York or the Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping?

NB: This was compiled by UK record sales, using different methods and sources to do so. ...Everyone I know absolutely DESPISES the Slade song and the way Holder screams, "It's CHRISTMAAAAS!" Almost ruins Christmas every year! He shouts that line like he hates Christmas and is not in the Xmas spirit at all! Vile.
