First up this week is Stewart Lee, who lays into Catholicism with his trademark sardonic humour and scathing observations. He ponders how appropriate Pope John Paul II-emblazoned lollipops from Vatican gift shops are following the pontiff’s death, and muses on the conflict of interests arising from scheduling the papal funeral against the wedding of Charles and Camilla.

A leather-kilt-wearing Craig Hill bounds on to the stage next, lambasting American tourists in Scotland and the vocal stylings of Enrique Iglesias and wondering why pilots are always so posh. Then there is the issue of Canadian songbird Céline Dion. “What are your thoughts?” Craig asks the audience.

Aziz Ansari, stand-up comedian and star of US comedy series ‘Parks and Recreation’, closes the show by rattling through a routine that encompasses confusing convenience-store employees, threadcount disappointment at homeware emporium Bed, Bath and Beyond, and the daftness of being asked his thoughts on Slumdog Millionaire purely because he is of Asian descent.
