This week, Mel and Dom head to the West Midlands and meet Solihull single mum Jamuna who spent £11,000 on extending her home to accommodate her seriously ill mother. The local builder she hired was hardly ever on site, and eight weeks into the build he was dismissed, leaving behind a half-finished extension riddled with structural problems. Melinda and her team have their work cut out trying to fix the mess.

Meanwhile, Dom tracks down the man responsible, only to discover the cowboy builder has been using a string of aliases and trading names in an effort to cover up his dubious working record.

Interesting how the references to cowboys relate to men only and refer to "tradesmen" not "tradespeople", this is a very sexist programme - have you noticed a similar programme about rogue hairdressers or beauty therapists

Oh We live in Solihull as well and we are having the same problem as this woman in this episode. We have been living without a kitchen for the past 8 months with our 6 year old and 2 year old children. Is there anything that can be done against these guys legally..I havent finished watching the episode yet. Does Don give how to get these kinda guys to payback? ...let me watch

We never see any true retribution for the crime. It makes their actions seem unpunishable so is offering ideas to unscrupulous people - a slanging match just before the cowboy drives off in top of range 4x4 etc is only showing crime does pay for the next generation of DIY workers. Could you give some focus on the puishments given for the cowboys actions-it need not be linked to a current job- but we need to show and see 'punishment to fit the crime'

i worked on the house and plastered the kitchen, some of the work done by the cowboys was a shocker and the cracks that had appeared upstairs were very unnerving, fair play to channel and the team for helping this person, i was really glad to help even though i never met the woman
