5OD does not work at all on firefox now. It was working up till firefox 12. But from 12 to 15 it just wont work. But it works very slowly and juddery on IE9 and very smooth on chrome. Its not 5OD with the problem. Its some browsers refusing to work with it. I cant get any site that has streaming content via firefox anymore. Even with 80MB/s download speed firefox wont work on here. If ur having trouble try using a diff browser. I solved the problem by using chrome.

I never seem to have a problem with streaming on Demand5. I use an iMac, Snow Leopard and Safari.

Some of you are lucky enough to have been able to watch these shows without streaming difficulties, however the ratio of successful to unsuccessful seems a little low. Given the amount of negatives, it would be fair to assume that a variety of PC configurations would be in the sample set, probably including IE, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Windows and Linux variants all connecting through various ISPs from disparate geographical locations. I highly doubt it has much to do with end-user's PC configurations unless the developers of 5OD are so incompetent as to not bother with basic software testing across different software stacks. What I suspect is more likely is that some people are lucky enough to be establishing a solid connection with a good streaming server, (it is likely that there are multiple streaming servers load balancing the service), that has enough resources free that the process serving their streaming session is able to return data with little latency. The rest of us are probably connected through to servers with latency issues, either at storage, cpu or network stacks. If this is a network issue, evidence still suggests it's an issue with the 5OD service provider's infrastructure and not that of the end-user's ISPs as other streaming services work fine for many and this issue is seen across multiple ISPs. I firmly believe this is an issue behind the 5OD infrastructure boundaries and just because a very limited few establish a good streaming session does not infer that this many people should all have browser issues and plugin issues that coincidentally only surface when viewing 5OD content.

You lot just have poor PC's it works fine for me and many others so its not Channel 5 is it? Use you heads you lot. Before whining like 5 year old check you PC first. I use chrome and it perfect.

XBel, I work in IT web services. This website's streaming ability (or lack of) is abysmal. Either the streaming servers are severely under-resourced, network bandwidth is too small, or network path is unreliable. People have tried all your suggestions, the common denominator here is 5OD, they just won't man up and admit it.

Before complaining can you people please first: check your broadband connection, try an alternative browser, try closing any other open programs, and finally, the good old it tech favourite, restarting your PC.... i bet that for most of you, one of those will solve your problem.

can't even watch the adverts... things must be getting worse!

Channel 5 outsource the video streaming to Brightcove. So the problems with streaming is with them. To small a company to deal with the high demand of online viewers of Channel 5. This episode is completely unacceptable! I have shared my views on facebook and twitter and would suggest everybody does the same until they improve!

Channel 5 please actually read these comments. Once again there are problems with your site and yes I have all the latest updates and no it does not happen with any other sites. Looks like I will have to watch through Side Reel again to get a cleab copy

If the episode doesn't play for the vast majority of us, will it remain available beyond the usual week so we can catch up (hopefully not when we're 3 episodes behind!)

beanie- no need to be passive-aggressive. Like it or not, most people don't know much about how their computers and software work and would have no idea what to Google to get a fix. I fail to see how I was "ranting into the ether" - I was simply telling people what worked for me as it's likely to help someone in the same situation out. Also, compatibility issues are rarely so simple as it being all about one thing. While it's true that flashplayer is involved, it only seems to be causing problems for people using particular browsers, so suggesting that someone try out a different one isn't such a stupid idea. The problem isn't directly caused by Chrome/Firefox, but changing your browser can fix these problems for the time being.

  • beanie

The problem is with the latest flashplayer 11.3 patch...not channel5/firefox/chrome/etc. Fixes are available. much less frustrating it is to google & fix the problem rather than rant into the great unlistening ether of the internet?

Everyone having problems getting this to play: if you're using Google Chrome, try installing Firefox and viewing the show through that instead, that sorted it out for me. Before you do that though, make sure you use the "report a problem" function next to the video (on Chrome) so that Channel 5 is made aware of the problem and can fix it. It seems that Demand 5 and/or Chrome may have updated recently and this has caused an incompatibility issue. Hope this helps :)

I usually have problems trying to watch CSI on Demand 5 but this time you seem to have excelled yourselves I cannot get the episode to play at all this time so I would like to add my complaint to what appears to be a growing list. How many complaints will it take?

It is bad enough that this last series has been moved to a different night hence me missing the first 5 episodes, which frustratingly I cannot view on here, I am trying to pick up on the one episode I can watch but it won't play properly! Talk about buffering and stop and starting... Disappointing.

Unable to watch as someone at Channel 5 has decided to block my very-well-known android-powered tablet from using their on-demand service. Seems they don't like mobile platforms. Obviously not following the Technology sector as tablets ARE the way to comsume media. Wonder what CBS and Channel 5's sponsors would say to them blocking a rather large userbase.... Time for some iPlayer I think!

Demand 5 is complete;y useless. They need to sort it out before they lose viewers. I like NCIS and CSI but can't put up with the online service which either buffers every 2 minutes or just simply does not play. I have since stopped watching it altogether. Disappointing.

    Frustrated Edna

5 On Demand does seem to experience more than their fair share of technical problems; far more than other on demand stations. Is the technology really that difficult? I have been truing to watch this programme for 17 minutes now, without success. Whilst I have your attention, is it really necessary to repeat the same advertisements in every break?

It was on tv last night and I had a seizure half way through and missed the rest. For some odd reason it shows as available now for six more days but when I click the tab all I get is a background colour, no picture or anything saying it's loading or a tab to play.
