Second Grade Detective Stella Bonasera is half Greek, half Italian and all New York. She speaks her mind and is not afraid of confrontation. It was Stella's fierce independence and unflinching character which led to her joining the NYPD. Fellow officers view her as the embodiment of the Statue of Liberty: a woman standing tall with her head held high. These qualities - coupled with her intelligence, brashness and determination - earned her a coveted spot alongside Mac Taylor as a CSI.

I am a big fan of the show and was wondering nwhy stella isn't in the latsest series of csi newyork there's explanation she's just gone. Will she be back as sheis one of my favorite characters

I suppose it refelcts life in the police in that people come, they stay, they move on. One of the reasons why LAW AND ORDER is such a great show thanks FIVE, keep them coming!)

we all leave one then the other to follow other projects as being typed cast a fresh approuch is needed but we have to relise that they only acting dont take it to seriously they have done enough to put it at the top as it is well watch programe

I was also wondering why Stella has gone - thought I may have missed the reason as I was away when the new series started but, reading these comments it appears that no-one knows, are we ever likely to find out?

i dont no why stella left but it was a bit stupid of the producers as i dont particularly like Jo, shes too similar to lindsay, though i love lindsay and think danny is so hot!!!!
