Iain Hooper - Emergency Care Practitioner
Iain joined the ambulance service in 1989 at the age of 19.
Iain "Spoons" Hooper is an Emergency Care Practitioner based at Truro Ambulance Station.
During his time with the ambulance service, he's been called to assist his father who was having a heart attack at his remote farm. Iain was able to reach him in good time on a Triumph Trophy 1200 response motorcycle and his dad was subsequently airlifted by the Cornwall Air Ambulance, treated and made a good recovery.
When he's not at work Iain loves live music and festivals (rock, metal and a bit of drum 'n' bass!). He also enjoys running, cycling, golf and surfing.
He rides a Kawasaki ZX6R outside of work.

Iain, I was a Nurse in A&E for many years and am now a Medical Law Lecturer. You demonstrate the excellence of communicating effectively with pts and relatives. I use a couplebof your cases when I teach ECPs, Nurses, Paramedics etc. Great work, good luck, Ed

When an ambulance was called for me last week, Ian talked to me all the time, explaining what was happening and he kept me feeling calm. Thanks very much for your great job.

I called for an ambulance and Iain turned up minutes later on his bike. At the time I was very scared and thought I was having a heart attack but he was so kind and patient with me and it turned out I was having a panic attack because my girlfriend had just left me. He made me a cheese sandwich and cup of tea and even put my little dog Hugo out for a wee. He talked to me and didn't rush off. I felt listened too and very lucky to have met such a caring and thoughtful person who obviously loves his job. Well done Iain.
