Biography

Caring, down-to-earth and above all a loving mother, Gina has dedicated her life to her family, having single-handedly raised sons Hugo, Brendan and Xavier following the break-up of her first marriage.

Eldest son Hugo proved himself to be a tower of strength as the Austins focused their care on Brendan, who suffers from autism, later passing down to Xavier his role as man of the house.

Her boys now grown up – Hugo opting for a life on the run following his involvement in a people-smuggling racket, and Brendan sampling independence as a resident of a community house – Gina has been able to return to some of her own dreams, not only finding love with new husband John Palmer but also a top job as Principal of Summer Bay High.
