Liam and Romeo say farewell to the Bay
Home and Away says goodbye to not one but two favourite faces, with news that stars Axle Whitehead and Luke Mitchell have filmed their final scenes.
Summer Bay may be a haven for soap hunks, but there's no doubt about it: its two latest departures will be sorely missed.
After three and a half years playing surfer Romeo, Luke Mitchell has filmed his final scenes on Home and Away, hot on the heels of real-life fiancee and former co-star Rebecca Breeds (Ruby Buckton). Having recently celebrated their engagement, the real-life couple are currently travelling in India.
Meanwhile, Axle Whitehead, who made his soap debut as rock star Liam Murphy in 2009, plans to head to Los Angeles next year - but not before he enhjoys a month-long motorbike tour of Australia.
In previous chats with Aussie mag TV Week, both stars had spoken of their dreams to work in the US, with Luke keen to try film ('It's a different thing, and you can tell stories more intricately,' he explains), and Axle hoping to combine two of his passions: 'I'd like to see what else is around and have a crack at more acting. Music and acting are really the dream.'
Both Luke's and Axle's final scenes will air on Channel 5 next year.
