Lucky seven Logie nods for Home and Away

In a year that saw Aussie viewers vote in record numbers, Home and Away has racked up an impressive list of nominations ahead of the 2012 TV Week Logie Awaards.

It's one of the hottest dates in the Aussie TV calendar, so it's little wonder that today the stars were out in force for the announcement of the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards nominees.

And it's good news for fans of the soaps. In a year that saw viewers Down Under vote in record numbers, Home and Away and its stars have scooped an impressive seven nods for the prestigious awards.

Already the most successful show in the history of the Logies, Home and Away is once again up for Most Popular Drama Series, facing competition from Offspring, Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly: Razor and Winners and Losers.

Meanwhile, Esther Anderson, who this year bowed out of the soap as cop Charlie Buckton, is in the running for Gold Logie, which is given to the star voted Most Popular Personality and is considered one of the most prestigious awards in Aussie TV. Esther has also been nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress.

Summer Bay stalwart Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart), a previous winner of the Gold Logie, has this year scooped a nod for Most Popular Actor, while Demi Harman (Sasha Bezmel) has been nominated for Most Popular New Female Talent.

Last but by no means least, and in an outcome surely set to cause a dilemma for fans of the River Boys, Steve Peacocke (Brax) and Dan Ewing (Heath) are both contenders for Most Popular New Male Talent. In the same category are Neighbours star James Mason and Winners and Losers' Tom Wren.

The winners will be unveiled at a star-studded ceremony in Melbourne next month.
