It's already the most successful show in the history of Australia's TV Week Logie Awards, and last night saw Home and Away add some extra sparkle to its impressive trophy haul as the the stars hit the red carpet at Melbourne's Crown Entertainment complex for the hotly anticipated 2012 ceremony.
In a category which put him against screen brother Dan Ewing (Heath Braxton), Steve Peacocke claimed the Silver Logie for Most Popular Male Talent for his role as River Boy hunk Darryl 'Brax' Braxton.
It was the first nomination for the star who, in a post-awards interview with The Morning show, admitted that despite his excitement he was battling stage fright ahead of his acceptance speech.
'I was really nervous. I couldn't help it. Even though you don't know you're going to get up there, I'm petrified of public speaking, so the prospect was pretty scary, but it was awesome.'
Having dutifully thanked his mum on the night, Steve gave a special mention to girlfriend Bridgette, also crediting the soap itself as a great learning ground as he hones his craft. 'It's incredible, and being on set with Ray [Meagher] and with Georgie Parker, and all these people you've seen for years and years. It's a great way for a first timer like me it's a great way to learn how to do it.'
