Enjoyed the night of fights on Channel 5. Finally good to see some MMA on terrestrial TV. Hope you put the BAMMA fight online and that one day soon we can see a full live event!
I kinda agree Richard, never been a cage fighting fan but after watching on saturday have to agree it was better than the boxing. will watch it again for sure.
the mma was much better after the fury fight, tom kong is a beast. ive been a boxing fan nearly 40 years and i am more interested in a bamma fight than a hw boxing match in the uk
This is what boxing has come to over-hyped average fighters like Fury made out to be world beaters. Greedy promoters trying to make as much money as possible by setting up fights with bum after bum after bum. If Tyson Fury honestly believes he can step into the ring with one of the Klitschko brothers and not be humiliated, then he needs his head checking.
Good to see Ch5 showing Boxing for the poor ^^ that cant or wont pay sky for. As said above, deffo looked like a fix, Rogie should have been able to take that punch and soak it up, both smiling at each other and chatting, wonder how much he bet on himself :P
who saw the way martin looked at his corner? im confused, he stared at his corner for ages, then tyson hit him with a head shot moments later he landed the body shot, with 5 seconds left on the clock his trainer jumps in and stops the fight? doesnt seem norm to me
the problem at the moment is there is no real heavyweights, why do you think david hay jumped up a division , he knew there was an opening and it worked he thought speed duck and dive land a few, he knows he isnt the real deal but why not, got found out but then again has another big fight coming up, hes got the the attention. and he beat a few hasbeens, gamble paid off. you got tyson fury who despertly needs some new skills, martin is a good scrapper and a warrior and could easily take tyson out at present, but tyson is young but so was the real tyson and he had the no guts no glory thats what british boxing needs, david price is looking good, time will tell
I know your promoter is meant to big you up but seriously, that man is deluded. The biggest star in heavyweight boxing behind the Klitchco's, your having a laugh, he's not even the biggest star in the country!! You will never get anyone over here unless they want to prove a point and what point are they gonna prove against Tyson Fury. He will get a fight against the Klitchco's for sure because they've got no one left to fight but the man he ducked has a much better chance of becoming world champion cause he's a better boxer.
that looked like a fix from the get go... fury is not world class and he will probably dodge a decent fighter for the next 5 years and he'll never have the bottle to fight a klitchko...
Great to see nuts and bolts boxing on "normal" telly...well done 5, I know the standard's not great but gotta lotta time for Rogan. Fury will win but I dont think he'll stop Marty
I thank you everytime you bring us boxing, and I'm going to thank you again! It's great to have free to air heavyweight boxing on a Saturday night. Please keep it up.
Any chance of picking up Hennessy Sports Canadian show on the 12th May? It doesn't have to be live, tape delay the following morning on 5* or 5 USA would be fantastic. Even extended highlights on the Sunday night would be great.
what are youguys on about? british boxing is in great shape.
boxing has always been and always will be a corrupt sport - in terms of business and money
Casual boxing fans do make me laugh. enjoy the fight.
To Max, thanks mate, it has to be said and yes haye and chisora do bring shame on the business of boxing and in turn the sports reputation. unfortunately some promoter will cash in on the ' bad ' blood between them. British and Irish boxing is in the grubby hands of the money men and until these men fall only then will boxing come back home to the ordinary general public. Boxing should be braught into working class areas/schools and that's were it will make a positive contribution, whats your guess on the result of the fight max?
To Rezwoc, apart from the outcome of the fight i completely agree and commend you for bringing it up! Whatever happened to the big fight live on ITV or ITV4, being a non sky/cable subscriber i only got to watch boxing on terrestrial tv. British boxing is in trouble at the moment with twats like david haye and dereck chisora bringing shame to the sport!
to those people we are commenting "both useless" go watch britains got talent or Mrs marple murders and stop complaining or just appreciate channel 5 is the only home of live terrestrial boxing. OK i understand they are not world class boxers but this will be an entertaining fight and gives non sky customers to get a rare look at a sport less telivised that once was the backbone of british and irish working class societies. Fury to win by points or late KO!
he reminds me of Audrey Harrison to be honest. It all ended up being hype. I would love him to be the next british heavyweight on the world scene but I think we need to keep looking for that. Still hope he wins tonight though
Fury could be a good fighter if he learned a technique other than a probing jab and a right hand every other round! Its unbelievable that he is ranked 6th in the world when he is a boring 1 armed man. He has been proven chinny and lacking stamina and i think he will be lucky to see round 5! A win for fury would be preferable because he has a better chance on the world stage whereas Rogan is unlikely to advance to the next level of competition. Furys attitude, size and heritage make him a more interesting character, if only he had the flare in the ring to back it up! Rogan KO rnd3
Business is Business and if you can go 5 more fights unbeaten and get paid good money then fair play hes young and its not up to him anyway its all down to the promoter/manager to keep the money coming in until the big fight comes. Good luck to both fighter
Tyson Fury v Martin Rogan
Fury defends his British & Commonwealth heavyweight title in Belfast at 10pm. ???? Fury has no title , he gave it up to run from Price
This is where we need to see a world class technique from Tyson and not a showboating, unfocussed performance, he is going to have to improve 100% to justify getting into the ring with either Klitchko. Good luck to both Tyson and Rogie, may the best man win!
