Raylan's decision to run off and join the Marshals Service has long been an irritant as well as a source of pride for his father, Arlo. Though he's proud his son has done well in a tough line of work, he can't also help but know that he's the reason why Raylan chose his career in law enforcement.

Arlo has been a criminal ever since he got back from serving in Vietnam. He was never any great criminal mastermind; more someone always looking for the angle, the scheme that would set him up for life.
