When a UN ambassador is kidnapped and a ransom demand is made to ensure her safe return, Mike and the team find themselves ensnared in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a faceless foe. With peace negotiations about to commence, Ambassador Olara Kumali is Africa’s best hope for an end to the civil war in her country. But she has been snatched by an unnamed menace, and is being held captive with her air supply dangerously low.

With time of the essence, Mike and K.I.T.T. receive calls from Olara’s kidnapper, who promises that he will hand over the ambassador in exchange for Gunner Haas, a former arms dealer being held at Madras Federal Prison. But when Mike and K.I.T.T. manage to bust the inmate from jail, the kidnapper moves the goal posts, demanding that Mike steal an X-ray machine from a nearby lab. Why does the kidnapper keeps giving Mike near-impossible missions? Does he have a secret agenda?

Meanwhile, Charles (Bruce Davison) and Sarah (Deanna Russo) attempt to fix robot Hank, who has been acting up by throwing objects around, and appears to have developed the ability to lie.
