When Ruth Walker bursts in to HQ, saying her granddaughter is missing, she points the team in the direction of her daughter Ashlee (played by Hilary Duff), who she says has recently returned from a girls' weekend in Atlantic City; when she did, there was no sign of the child and a smell of fresh meat in her car.
As Benson and Stabler approach Ashlee, finding her hosing down the boot of her car, she dismisses her mother's claims and says that her daughter is with a new babysitter, Maria. But when they get to Maria’s address, there is no sign of either.
At a park they find Maria with a pushchair carrying a doll, not a baby. They take her in for questioning and find her to be of unsound mind; financial checks show that she recently bought a shovel on her credit card. Following this latest lead, the team recover a body, but not all is as it seems. Is this a case of murder, or is the city council ultimately responsible for the tragic death of a child?

@KE, thanks for that-bit of a phew moment but scary just the same, I firmly believe that the imune system takes the 1st 7 years to build up and pumping drugs into children is scary stuff. I have had measles and most of the peope I know have too but never heard of it killing anyone. Thanks for your imput, it's quite educating on here I am finding.

@lolli: Recall that this episode was written and aired before the controversial "MMR causes autism claims" were retracted in the UK in 2010/2011--Season 10 aired in 2009. Indeed, courts (largely civil) globally are still of a mixed opinion (see Italy) and measles is again on the rise in countries where parents withhold vaccination. In the US, all it really takes to bring charges is one aggressive District Attorney and an agreeable Judge and could be the logical extension of the circumstances presented in the storyline. Conviction, of course, is another matter.

@Dave Bob (& others lucky enough to have escaped the bugs): It is not just having a faster Internet connection. Demand 5, more than other TV catch-up services, experiences a slew of technical difficulties, even when other services are working just fine. The BBC's download alternative is best for a country like ours with generally poor broadband, compared to the global average (see SpeedTest.com), but such rights are often not available for programmes licensed from the US (where people experience much faster broadband >10Mbps). There are techniques to making the now ubiquitous Flash Player streams available at low broadband speeds (or on overstretched video servers), but Channel 5 (and its service providers) seem unwilling or unable to implement them. I have also noticed that the Demand 5 video server experiences problems interleaving the advertisements, but this does not happen nearly as frequently on 4oD or even ITVplayer. When the advertisements are stripped, the programmes often stream more smoothly from beginning to end. As well, programmes (at least the ones I watch) have often not been published to the on time. Please also note that it is often not possible to switch to a faster broadband service, as you suggest, even if that were the problem. My ISP is determined by my landlord and I cannot change it. There are also regions of the UK that simply do not receive fast broadband. And where I live (major city centre, not even rural), I do not receive a clear Freeview signal, so there is no possibility to record anything (or even watch a regular TV set). Bottom line: There are definitely technical problems with Demand 5 that simply do not occur with other sites. So count yourself lucky (for now) that you have not experienced these. I have read comments from other users with a like-minded attitude to yourself, who later had to eat humble pie.

What tripe, dont think I can watch this anymore, does a 5year old write these things? Can you really arrest a mother because her child carries a virus that someone else dies from? And all because it's election year? Surely not even in America!

Here's a hint to the advertisers - don't make fun of your target audience by denigrating the TV show they're watching. Superdrug, if you call L&O: SVU 'Celebrity Dog Makeover', I'll boycott you out of sheer spite.

That content description under video possibly errs on the side of giving half the story away before watching. A brief guide to the plot but not half the content of the show descrbed in writing beforehand, might be better. Looks intriguing though.
