A new competition of live boxing presented by Mark Pougatch.
The Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading is the venue for these first two exciting quarter-finals. Dean Francis from Basingstoke, who is almost on his home turf, takes on Bob Ajisafe of Leeds in a 12- rounder in which the British title is also at stake. Francis has held titles at British, European and Commonwealth levels. Even though he is at the veteran stage at 40, he firmly believes that he is still the one to beat, with high hopes that he can continue to live up to his nickname ‘Star’.
Ajisafe, at 28, regards himself as favourite for the Maxi Nutrition title, boasting eleven knock-outs in his thirteen contests. At 6’ 2”, with the alias ‘Lionheart’, he certainly cuts a formidable figure. The athlete has high hopes that the competition will bring the sport to a wide audience.
The second quarter-final also promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Southern Area champion Leon Senior will clash with Southampton’s Tony Hill. Senior cites his pure “boxing ability and fitness” as the simple attributes which make him capable of climbing all the way to the top of the competition.
These thrilling bouts are presented by Mark Pougatch, with commentary from Dave Farrar and former World Super Middleweight Champion Richie Woodhall.
