Jon and Laura are married with three children, and since 2005 have run Vennell’s, a high-end restaurant serving Modern British cuisine. The couple, who live above the shop, are passionate about their business, a small restaurant (26 covers) with a loyal clientele. They are extremely proud of their bib gourmand, which Vennell’s was awarded in 2006.
Jon has always been in catering, working his way up to Head Chef at Haley’s Hotel before starting his own business. Laura, on the other hand, studied music and worked as a waitress at Haley’s to earn extra money. This is where the couple met in 1996. They are complete opposites: Jon is passionate and a real perfectionist, and he will worry if his dish isn’t right; whereas Laura is calm, puts people at their ease and knows what their customers want. Being so different is what makes Jon and Laura's relationship, both personal and professional, work so successfully.
