Marco’s search for the couple that he thinks is running the UK’s best restaurant hots up as the Battle Kitchen opens its doors to the first three semi-finalist couples. This specially-designed, super-sized restaurant is a tough challenge – with three kitchens housed under one roof, and each couple charged with the task of cooking for and serving their own set of 25 diners.
The diners are Marco’s eyes, ears and tastebuds, and will pull no punches with their feedback, but ultimately Marco is the judge and will decide which couple has got the culinary flair and superb service towin a place in the Grand Finale.
First to compete in the semi-finals are Olivier and Sheila of Les Saveurs, John and Julia of The Leatherne Bottel, and Rosaria and Maurizio of The Italian Club Fish. Each couple has to design a three-course menu, using one ingredient specified by Marco for the main-course protein. It's no mean feat, especially as they only have enough ingredients to make the exact number of portions for the 25 diners in each restaurant: if they mess up a dish, they won’t be able to replace it.
With only four hours to prepare their menu and one hour and forty-five minutes to serve it, which couple will have the skills, stamina and strategy to make it through to the grand finale?
As the Battle Kitchen opens its doors for the finale, the competition is tougher and bigger than ever, with four couples each serving 28 diners their best menu in just two hours.
With one place remaining in the Kitchen Wars grand final, the stakes are raised as three more couples battle it out in a test of skill and style.
Marco's food selection for the contenders is characteristically challenging - lamb with sweetbreads, red mullet and haunch of venison - but which couple has the teamwork and strategy to impress?

Channel 5 you have some serious issues with playback. I watch catchup a lot but when it's on 5 I know it will freeze. What is wrong with your IT guys that you can't get this right? I have to end up watching on youtube as their playback is better. FIX IT! Every other uk channel has better connections. Do something.

Marco's knife lol Who was it that said there is no problem with a tradesman showing off his tool's? which a chef has many. Next season he will be showing his whisk and it will be life threatening.

This is an entertaining cooking program. But you learn no more about cooking than you would by watchin Big Brother. I really do wonder why the producers of such programs think the passing on of a little knowledge is too highbrow.

The female voiceover seems to have replaced restaurateur (the owner and manager of a restaurant) with restauranteur (not a word)

@Jilly - whether he is an aggressive man or not isn't the question, it is WHY is he wielding a knife anyway ? as a gimmick you say, well it just isn't appropriate, it's totally random and I'm surprised he's agreed to do it, he looks idiotic ! @Sean - I have to agree about the Scottish/Italian ? lady, firstly she didn't play the game properly by foisting the desserts onto people before the time was up and secondly the singing was awful and cringe worthy ! (lol, I thought our family made that up !)

Marco is too good for this show, it seems it hasn't been directed, written, edited well at all, some parts are cringe worthy, I had to turn off when that bird with the huge bum started singing.

why do people keep on rattling on about Marco parading around with a Knife?..To some he may come across as an aggressive man, but actually he is far from it!...The knife wielding is no more than a gimmick!...Some of the comments are just ridiculous,..but there you go!

OMG ! Marco has really sold out this time ! is he so desperate for the money that he would willingly parade around wealding a nasty sharp knife looking for all the world like a cross between Ken Dodd andTommy Cooper ? It was laughable ! my husband and I kept exchanging amazed glances, we couldn't believe it. If this is supposed to be good telly then Channel 5 have seriously got it wrong. Marco is a very poor presenter, his cheffing skills are not up for debate, I'm sure he's very good but this program is too tense and aggresive for me, Marco turned into a freak show, him being the number one freak.

This type of program seems to emphasise time to be more important than the food, no discerning customer goes into a restaurant and demands a meal to be the table in 15 minutes or they will leave the restaurant, and the knife he wealds should be classed as a effensive weapon and shoved together with his watch into the making of a very aggresive and obserd program
