On his way to pick up Vanessa for their long-awaited trip, Rhys drives past the teen car wreck. Seeing their lives hang in the balance, he tries desperately to help them - but manages to injure his hand in the process. Ignoring his pain, Rhys pushes on until the ambulance arrives. When he finally gets them to the hospital, he ignores Karl’s warning to have his hand examined and gears up for Sophie’s emergency surgery. When Vanessa talks him round, Rhys is dejected to discover he needs minor surgery – which means he’ll have to cancel their trip to Japan. However, he’s somewhat buoyed when Vanessa urges him to focus on all the lives he's managed to save.

Paul’s furious to discover Sophie snuck out, but his attempt at an angry phone call inadvertently leads Rhys to finding her thrown from Chris’s car. Completely unaware of the turmoil she’s in, Paul heads to the hospital upon learning Andrew’s been in a car crash. Relieved to see his son’s in a stable condition, Paul and Kate are both shocked when unconscious Sophie is wheeled past them too. Learning she may not make it, Paul’s struck with guilt about their argument. But, wanting to be strong for Kate, he works hard to pull himself together. However, when Sophie flat-lines, Kate’s reduced to hysterics and Paul’s completely lost – how will they cope if she doesn’t survive?

As Ed lies unconscious, Tash regrets having pushed him away for so long. When he finally wakes, she decides life’s too short to deny her true feelings and kisses him.

@Rachel, Kyle and Kate don't get together. Karl and Vanessa will never get together. Vanessa is with Rhys.

AHH why did tash kiss Ed. She should get back with Andrew. The two blondes look so cute together. Ed is a nerd who seriously needs to hit the gym because he is shrivelled, antisocial geek. Andrew is a real man.

What a brilliant episode. Great acting by all involved. One of the best episodes of the year. You could feel Kate's pain at the thought of Sophie dying. There's going to be a few months of recovery for Sophie. With everything that Kate has been through this year, she could do with some happiness and show a smile on her face. Mark retuning would put the smile back on Kate's face and she will be happy again.

@Miriam, The car hit something else before it rolled over, so, with the force it hit at and Sophie not wearing a seat belt it would have thrown Sophie out easily.

Wow, terrific episode! I actually blubbed! Reminded me of when the roof fell in at that illegal rave and that girl died holding Ringo's hand. omg where's my hankie?? Sometimes they get it so right! Well done Neighbours.

Today's episode was a tad OTT. None of the people should have got out of the car, for fear of spinal injuries, and Sophie, could not have flown that far out of the car, other than that good.

@Bruce, Jade told Kyle what happened between her and Mark. She let it slip to Kyle about 2 weeks after her and Mark slept together. So, Jade can't really have a go at kyle for kissing Kate which he regretted, when she slept with her best friends ex. Jade knew Kate & Mark still had feelings for each other but she slept with him anyway. Jade also slep with Mal Kennedy, who is a married man.

Someone please tell Kyle about Jade's one nighter with Brennan and others before!

Oh yes please, get rid of Sophie. Horrible, spoiled, spiteful, argumentative little brat. Never could stand her. She does my head in.
