Dishy new doctor for Neighbours

Watch out, Dr Karl! There's a new doc in town.

If you're dreading saying goodbye to Neighbours hunk Scott McGregor (aka Mark Brennan), then news of Ramsay Street's latest recruit may just ease the blow.

Joining the regular cast of the sunshine soap is 27-year-old Ben Barber, who last week filmed his first scenes as Dr Rhys Lawson, starring opposite Alan Fletcher (Karl) and Jackie Woodburne (Susan).

A NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) graduate, Ben will first be seen on Australian screens in July, when the arrival of his dishy-doc alter ego doesn't go down two well with some of his new neighbours.

'I love the character,' says Ben of his new role. 'He is very determined and focused. I'm looking forward to what's ahead.'
