Neighbours newcomer hopes for a model success

2008 winner of the Australian version of the hit series Make Me A Supermodel, Rhys Uhlich has a point to prove to his good mate Scott McGregor, who charmed fans as Detective Mark Brennan – he isn’t just a pretty face.

The talented 28-year-old, who moved from primary school teaching to the glam world of high fashion modelling, started filming a two-month guest role on the show this week.

Rhys has been cast as Scotty Boland, country boy and high school sweetheart of Toadie’s cousin Georgia (played by newcomer Saskia Hampele, who makes her on-air debut in November).

Soon to start work on a feature film in Hollywood, Rhys’s character reveals a secret which will rock the world of his beautiful girlfriend and have tongues wagging on Ramsay Street.

'To see the adulation and support that Scott (McGregor) received from fans of Neighbours is incredible. I just hope I can deliver my lines and viewers like it, let alone receive the response his character did. No doubt Scott will be letting me know if I don’t,' jokes Rhys. 'Who knows, maybe some friendly competition might just be the key to luring him back.'

Rhys's first scenes will air Down Under in December and in February on Channel 5.
