Prisoner star joins Neighbours' Canning family
17 years after her first Neighbours appearance, former Prisoner star Colette Mann is preparing to return to Ramsay Street in a different guise.
Neighbours in 1995, having been called in to fill an eight-week guest part as Cheryl Stark after lead actress Caroline Gillmer fell ill; now, nearly 17 years down the line, former Prisoner star Colette Mann is preparing for a return to Ramsay Street in a rather different guise.
Colette has been cast in a regular role as Sheila Canning, the opinionated and much-loved grandmother of Kyle.
Sheila makes a surprise visit to see her favourite grandson and sparks fly immediately between the family matriarch and Kyle’s girlfriend Jade.
As a mother of two grown sons, Colette has no apprehensions about working opposite her young co-star; in fact, hunk Chris Milligan might be in for a surprise or two.
'Chris is a lovely boy; however, like my sons, he’ll wonder what has hit him after working with me for a few weeks,' jokes Colette.
The seasoned performer is no stranger to Neighbours' studio in Nunawading, having spent three years in the early '80s filming cult series Prisoner, in which she played Doreen Anderson.

Val Lehman wouldn't star in Neighbours & Home & Away....Apparentely it's beneath her!!!..basically because she coursed such a stink at her time in Prisoner for 4 years...They didn't want her back again...lol......True....x

Isn't she supposed to be just a guest, as it says she is just visiting Kyle. It was mentioned that they were trying to cast a guest role for Kyle's gran.

I think she will be a mix of Blanche (from corrie) and Janelle from Neighbours!!! Anyway, its worth waiting to see if she will be watered down in after a couple of weeks and be made into a background character

I actually went to the Nunawading Studios and reported for the "Prisoner Cell Block H Fan Page" on facebook. There are lots of Prisoner pics clips and fans I also went to see the neighbours sets and had went onto Pin Oak Court and took lots of pics in front of the houses. Wow how humbling. hope she is permanent, as neighbours has been missing an older female character for a while. plus it might spark some interesting storylines for lou when he is on screen, possible romance and comedy stotylines?
