Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi in Neighbours

Ryan Moloney has wanted to be a pilot ever since he was a young boy.

The Neighbours star, who has played Toadie Rebecchi in the soap for 16 years, is now hoping to secure a commercial pilot's licence and has promised his wife Alison Hayward she will be his first passenger.

But Ryan tells Inside Soap magazine that she wasn't so keen: 'I'm not sure she's looking forward to it as much as I am.

'She's been pretty nervous seeing me behind the controls of any piece of machinery ever since I crashed our car while we were on honeymoon.'

The 31-year-old actor, who started on the soap at a young age, says: 'Ever since I was a young lad, I've wanted to fly. If I hadn't got the job on Neighbours, I think it's likely I would have joined the Australian Air Force.'

Ryan and Alison are parents to four-year-old daughter Erin and son Jack, who was born in 2008.

In Ramsay Street, Toadie is about to discover girlfriend Sonya is actually the biological mother of his adopted son Callum, leaving him wondering if he can really trust her - the latest drama he has been through over the years.

Ryan laughs, 'My life is nothing like Toadie's. I'd go mad if it was!

'The only advice I could give him is to get out of Ramsay Street for good. But I think it's a bit late for that!'
