Ramsay Street's Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) has long been famed for his villainous ways, but with Dr Rhys Lawson (Ben Barber) on the scene it looks as though he might have a contender for his Mr Nasty title. So who is Neighbours' best bad guy?

If you ask the actors who play the show’s two resident villains, opinions are clearly divided, with each backing their respective alter egos.

'Rhys may be the apprentice, but he has well and truly dethroned Paul,' laughs Ben. 'If he can be this ruthless and callous in a short space of time, the sky is the limit.'

Stefan Dennis, the only actor in the cast who appeared in Neighbours' first episode nearly 28 years ago, is reluctant to dignify Ben’s claims.

'I think Ben Barber needs a few more scripts under his belt. Rhys is small fry when it comes to manipulation; Paul is the master,' says Stefan. 'He has cheated, stolen, revenged and even lost a leg in the name of despicable acts. Top that, doctor!'

Whatever your opinion now, it could be all change in the months ahead: both characters are set to test the boundaries of appalling behaviour in upcoming storylines, with Rhys out for professional and personal gain, and Paul putting lives in danger just to prove a point.

    Paul Robinson the best character on the show. I have watched the show from the very start. When paul returned back in 2004 full time I said "Yes my number one character is back." I hope Stefan Dennis stays with the show for a long time to come. He's the best good/bad guy on the show

    It's paul he can have a soft spot but he has done some really bad things in the years and I don't think Rhys could be like that/ Rhys was doingit for his own good and Paul usaally does it to hurt others plus Ben barber is way more sexier
