Rory and Paul head to Ye Olde Reine Deer Inn, a pub that served as Oliver Cromwell's headquarters and is the only pre-Civil War building left standing in the area.

As our pair drill down into the battlefield, they nearly break into a bank vault, fire a 17th Century
musket and brewup some of the town’s infamous 'Cock Ale'. But they also find a burnt wall that proves the fighting in Banbury extended far further than historians have previously thought and they discover how pre-Civil War puritans purged the town’s medieval red light district!

    Why didn't they get a local historian to advise? I lived in Banbury for 45 years and worked in many hotels and pubs. The town centre is a maze of underground passageways, 8 ft tall, The Whately used theirs as a cocktail Bar, the White Lion used theirs as a wine bar, they connected the catholic church with the red light district in 'Parsons St' Very poor show, Banbury pubs have a real wealth of history to show all their cellars connect with each other.... wasted opportunity for a really interesting show.
