This week, two young head chefs have the opportunity to secure a job working for Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton. Richard, the mild mannered 24-year-old head chef of the Victoria pub in Westbury-on-Trym, and Rob the cocky 20-year-old head chef of The Bank in Bexleyheath, have no idea that Jason is watching their every move.

For Richard and Rob's first test, two actors pretend to be the world’s worst trainees in order to challenge our chefs' management skills. After hours of culinary mistakes, Rob fires our actor, but Richard relies on his boss to do his dirty work. What will Jason’s reaction be?

Next comes the pressure test. The ingredients are one fake food critic, sprinkled with a coach party of customers with a nightmare food order and garnished with a waitress who gets everything wrong. The result is a great deal of sweating, swearing and screaming. With a long day in the kitchen, a last-minute table of the fussiest customers ever drive both our young chefs to such distraction that they refuse to serve any more food – much to Jason Atherton's annoyance.

For their final challenge, Richard and Rob have to cook one of Jason's signature dishes for his own head chef. Mistakes and meltdowns are on the horizon, but from whom? And who will get the job that could transform their world?

Rob didn't disrespect his boss in the slightest that's the relationship they had off camera his boss wud b hundred times worse but they were Freinds rather than boss and employee and that's how he dellt with the pressure and actually got the job done! winning each stage in the process and i personally think richard will be out his depth but at the same time he was chosen for a reason and time is on robs side as he is still very young and obv born to be a chef best of luck to the pair of them!

Fascinating concept. Wish I had started to read the comments b4 watching the episode online (as my recorder failed on the night). Totally agree - Rob made it from Pot Washer to Head Chef in 13 months, not 8 YEARS, for a reason! His 'flirting' with customers was simply using charm, which would keep customers coming back! He was sweet, funny and talented. The younger they are, the easier they are to 'mould' too! Also, the other chef had a tip-off from his boss regarding a 'big prize' at the end - totally biased!

from one chef to another, hope this was,nt a set up,i do cringe on cooking programes like this when you get so called HEAD-CHEFS who don,t know the basic skills in our trade, not knowing how to fillet a whole flat fish or have never done one before.management need shooting for employing him, jason great chef and enjoyed the wind-ups

Why the Heck did he not pick Rob? Because he has tattoos? Because he is younger? Because he isn't quite so respectful? SO WHAT?!?!?!? Richard left out the pasta... hid behind his boss... he's an idiot. Rob made better food, got more praise, didn't leave anything out. WTF? I do NOT like what happened. It sucks and smacks of prejudice but I could be wrong.

I missed the last 15 mins and only have iPad on which channel 5 doesn't work. At least I found out who won. What a shame, I thought Rob would have won it.

Rob was the best, but as Jason said he did not act seriously and he disrespected his boss which is a no no!! Even though I wanted him to win.

Wrong, wrong wrong decision. Richard couldn't hack it, Was it because Rob is a bit rough around the edges???

This seemed a good show to begin with-but he deliberately picked the wrong chef as winner. Some shows use this format, leading its audience on that one is going to win, then 'shocking' the public at the end by choosing the other contestant. It was likely all set up. Very lame and disappointing

secret interview - chef , i think the wrong chef was chosen for the job, rob for me would have won hands down, he had good work ethic, strong character, management skills and better knowlege of food i do think he could have cut the swearing but thats easy to change. the other chef seemed cowardly, gave up to easy, no management skills. there isa reason why someone is still in a pub kichen after eight years of chef work i think rob will make something of himself anyway good luck to both of you x
