In spite of Charlotte’s intervention, Carrie’s financial problems endure, forcing her to accept a freelance writing gig at Vogue magazine. There she works under the tutelage of the fearsome Enid Meade, who casts aspersions on her literary abilities. Preferring the company of fellow editor Julian, Carrie begins to blossom under his rather too watchful eye.

Meanwhile, Charlotte hosts a baby shower for a baby-phobic Miranda, and Samantha plans the perfect birthday surprise for Richard.
