Carrie and Miranda battle their ambivalence about, respectively, marriage and babies. When Miranda has her first sonogram, her less-than-ecstatic reaction causes concern, as does Carrie’s failure to be suitably rapturous about her nuptials.

To remedy Carrie’s jitters, Miranda suggests some ‘shock-aversion therapy’ in the form of trying on some hideous wedding dresses. But their experiment goes awry when Carrie’s anti-marriage gene kicks in and her body bears the scars of her conjugal allergy. Aidan’s patience is wearing thin with her continuous evasion of anything vaguely matrimonial, and the resulting argument leads to a heartbreaking dissolution of their union.
