Find out why the star of OK!TV decided to take the plunge.
"When I heard about The Swim, I jumped at the chance to be part of the challenge. It’s a very personal challenge for me. In January 2010 I lost my mum to lung cancer. The diagnosis came as a shock – there was no family history and she had never been a smoker. I now realise how important an early diagnosis is, and I am proud to be raising money for a charity that helps to save millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
I have the ultimate motivation for doing The Swim. I do like to challenge myself but this is real physical exertion – a massive challenge for me! I can do breaststroke but I am learning how to improve my front crawl in preparation for crossing the Irish Sea. Over the summer I will be swimming off the coast of Ibiza, but the Irish Sea is going to be a completely different challenge! It’s going to be tough, but knowing I’m doing it for my mum will give me the strength to keep going."
Jenny has now completed the challenge but you can still make a donation to Cancer Research through her sponsor page here
