Series 8 - Bodkin House, Gloucestershire

Alex visits Gloucestershire to lend a helping hand to a couple whose hotel needs a new lease of life. The two-star, eleven-bedroom establishment sits in three acres of beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.

10 years ago, the owners moved from the city and bought the Grade Two listed building, hoping that the scenic surroundings would provide a welcome nest egg for retirement. However, meagre profits and a declining occupancy rate have turned their dreams sour. When Alex visits the hostelry, she discovers an establishment with uninspired décor, run by a couple who don't always agree when it comes to the business.

Alex believes the couple need to put the independence back into their independent hotel. But with a couple reluctant to change, it looks like any improvement plans will involve a bumpy ride...

    channel 5, your player is awful. riddled with freezing. please update the software, theres many options out there, this is the worst i've experienced.

    What is going on Channel 5? Poor quality playback with frequent stops and random cuts to adverts. I bet this doesn't happen on Asian Babes.

    The VO describing Alex's changes contained some pretty strong hyperbole in this episode, to the extent it actually made me laugh - "a triumph" was such a disproportionate description that it almost became a parody of itself.

    Agreed, the decorating was great. Did PHS Decorating do the furnishing as well? The accent chairs are exactly what I am looking for but cannot find. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks. Excellent programme!
