Some friends of my parents ran the White Hart in the late 1970s and early 80s. In those days it was a friendly local pub as well as a successful restaurant. Since they left, a succession of people have tried to make a go of the place -generally without success. The 'Hotel Inspector' failed to make a crucial point about the position of the White Hart on Hollywell Hill - it stands right next to a Comfort Hotel. If you want a pleasant drink and a bite to eat, but not accommodation, visit the White Hart Tap - which is about five minutes' walk from where the photo above was taken.
