The tragic story of Ricky Naputi, one of the world's fattest men. At nearly 65 stone, bedridden and confined to his home on the Pacific island of Guam, Ricky had limited access to obesity medical care. Even finding a doctor to give him the weight-loss surgery he so desperately needed would prove to be a massive challenge.

Ricky lived with Cheryl, his wife of ten years, on a beautiful tropical island, but for the last five years of his life he never would never be able to appreciate it. He had become a prisoner in his own home, trapped in his bed, morbidly obese and unable to walk. In a desperate effort to get help, Ricky and Cheryl tracked down campaigner Angie Flores, herself a former weight-loss surgery patient. However, she lived 10,000 miles away in Houston, Texas. Angie promised Ricky that she would try to find away of getting him to America to have the operation.

Ricky was supported by Cheryl and Angie, but was told that to even be considered for surgery he needed to lose weight and attend a special clinic where his food consumption could be closely monitored. Following Ricky during his last few months and witnessing the devastating consequences of his overeating, this film reveals his last ditch effort to save his life.

he didn't eat himself to death - she fed him to death.

I just hope after watching Ricky's struggle with obesity that the worlds health care providers and governments can start to appreciate just how difficult it is to live with obesity which can be just as deadly as anorexia. I hope that more help can be offered to obese people like myself before our problems become life threatening. My thoughts are with Ricky's wife and family friends who will be grieving his untimely death. We blame fat people for being fat, but we do not blame anorexia patients for starving themselves. Binge eating disorder which is classed as an eating disorder is an illness and patients with this illness need urgent help.

she called 911 one and half hour after his death. It was clear she didnt want him to leave. I recognize it is his fault for getting to that state but she was the added evil, feeding him and at the end just killing him

There's obviously a very big reason for this to start and it's sad it turned into such an addiction that he couldn't save himself. People should stop being so judgmental and realise their comments can make this sort of thing worse

addiction is a terrible affliction but I feel just as sorry for some people here who are unable to empathise with such a sad human being - and even go so far as to hurl abuse at the dying and dead

I find this revolting. How on earth could you let yourself get like that? I have to say though, as an Essex man, living in Birmingham, most of the women around here are much like this. I find it hideous to think that Princess Kate can shed a few post pregnancy pounds, whilst the majority of British women pile them on. Come on ladies, you can be like Kate if you put your mind to it.

I find it difficult to have any sympathy for such a self-centred man and such a stupid, weak woman. I personally find it extremely difficult to lose weight, like all the wrong foods and put on weight very easily. But at the end of the day you just have to stop eating and stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Its his own fault and his wifes for feeding him that shit food. I could eat myself to that size but I dont, to feel sorry for him is silly, the man is a victim of his own feel sorry for myself attitude.

No doubt lots of people would watch this and be critical and judgemental but you can't judge unless you've walked in the same shoes. I just feel terribly sad that there didn't appear to be nursing and psychiatric support while he was at home to help him lose the weight he needed for intervention.
