Simon Baker as Patrick Jane
Simon Baker is well known for previous roles in shows such as 5USA's The Guardian and Channel 5's Home and Away.
Hailing from Australia, Simon Baker began his career as a regular in Home and Away (another Channel 5 favourite!), playing James Healey, and went on to star in classic '90s Oz teen drama Heartbreak High.
Best known for his striking performance as Nick Fallin in the drama The Guardian, Simon Baker won widespread critical praise for his portrayal of a hardened corporate lawyer who was sentenced to work as a legal child advocate after being found guilty of drug possession. In the first season, Baker's work was recognised by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
In 2007, Baker made the transition from a television star to big screen leading man with two diverse roles. In the critically acclaimed feature The Devil Wears Prada,Streep and Anne Hathaway as the dashing Christian Thompson. In the feature film Something New, a romantic comedy starring opposite Sanaa Lathan, Baker played a working class landscaper who falls in love with an uptight professional black woman.
Baker first gained attention in the Academy Award-winning film LA Confidential, following it up with a string of memorable performances in An Affair of the Necklace, Red Planet, Sunset Strip, Judas Kiss and the horror flick The Ring 2. Baker garnered acclaim for his turn in the independent film Book of Love, and was part of the all-star cast of Ang Lee's Ride with the Devil.
Baker’s other film credits include Sex and Death 101; Land of the Dead, with Dennis Hopper, John Leguizamo and Asia Argento; and The Killer Inside Me, co-starring Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson. He has also appeared in the indies Restaurant; Love from Ground Zero; The Lodger, opposite Hope Davis, Alfred Molina and Philip Baker Hall; and psychological thriller Not Forgotten.

Simon is such a wonderfully versatile actor. Nick Fallin and Patrick Jane are such completely different characters. And then we have so many other characters from his films. My favourites are Eric (Love from Ground Zero), David (Book of Love), Brian (Something New) and Roderick (Sex and Death 101).

Simon Baker,is such an underated actor,like the previous poster I too have enjoyed his film roles,it`s such a shame that apart from the devil wears prada where he had a small but memorable role, we don`t get the chance to see his movies on uk tv,,it would be nice if 5 could rectify this for the many many fans Simon has in the uk

I just love watching Simon Baker. Saw him first on TV as Nick Fallin in The Guardian, great acting. Then in "Smith" which was unfortunately cancelled after only 7 episodes. Now we have the pleasure of watching him as Patrick Jane in the Mentalist. He is a great actor and a lovely Man

i share ur views and i think they should show the other seasons of the guardian as i love it so much and i follow every single episode without fail. The mentalist and guardian control my life i have to watch them or i think that there is something missing if i miss an episode.

hi minal1 new season starts up again sone. Production was closed for christmas were 3 episodes behind amereica.New episode aired on the 20th so another couple of weeks and we should be back on track.hope this helps.Love simon baker great guy xxxx

simon signed 30 million dollar contract so the mentalist should be with us for 7 series.Hopefull season 3 will be back on our screens by then L O L..... simon's new film is called margin calls release date this year also film called breath still makin this one so no release date as yet. Amazon selling box set of the guardian if interested its region 1 so need region free dvd player to watch.Baker fans 4ever.

Big shout out to all baker fans. America has christmas break after the 15th of december there up to episode 10 of season 4 next episode will be shown over there on the 12th of january. so it looks like we'll have the same long wait over here as we did last year!!! but five are showing repeats of season 3 from 19th of december on 5* at 7pm. sad sad news janes going to get a girlfriend signed for 5 episodes next season but will be in last two of this season and ive not had a screen test yet LOL wish it was me. Also rummours about lisbon and jane gettin together at some point Bruno has hinted on it but said it would take some time for them to get together if at all. But lisbon is showing a few signs of jealousy like when erica flynn showed up again.Lisbons ex fiance appears in episode 22 so lets see if Jane gets a little jealouse as I do think he has feelings for Lisbon luck luck Lisbon.

Jane can't have a girlfriend in the series he is destined for Lisbon. O coures she will get jealous and Jane will look after Lisbon when she has someone. I'm glad that they might be getting together it would make the show more intresting.
