so glad it isn’t just me who has had to sit through three lots of ads, black screens and as yet no programme. I write this through the fourth lot, and have BT high speed internet connection. Channel 5 do something for your sponsors or we will all turn off, as I appear to have to do....

re last comment - i have a good internet connection- D5 is the only player that won't play - still getting the message that the player can't play protected content whatever that is - don't even get the ads - and there's only 1 day left to watch this - buck up your ideas D5

I was so happy that I finally got this to play past the initial advert block (had to sit through nearly 2 minutes of black screen before the adverts actually kicked in). Unfortunately, it only made it to the second advert block, about 17 minutes in, before freezing during an advert. I shall click the 'Report a problem with this video' link and try again, but if this persists, I will be contacting the sponsor to complain. As Demand5 does not listen to viewers, I suggest others do the same. Moderator: this is not spam, so stop deleting my posts! If you don't like the complaints, then sort out the system. We've been patient for more than 2 years.

been trying for 3 days now to watch this- still not even starting - not even the ads - which gave false hope at least that it might work for once NO SUCH LUCK. Now down to 2 days so doubt I'll ever get to see Red Sails in the Sunset as I can't imagine it'll be fixed by then

really D5 get your act together. Channel 5 is my favourite channel with most of my favourite programmes - why can't you provide a demand service to the same standard? It can't be that hard surely to goodness??? and are you going to extend the number of days left to make up for the days when nothing worked?

why oh why oh why does this service never ever work? Took days n days n days to see ep7 - now can't see 8 or 9 = what is the 'protected content' it can't play? P.A.N.T.S. Both BBC and ITV iplayers work fine - so why can't this one? At least if D5 can't give a reliable service at least make progs available for longer so we have half a chance to see them

90 mins after it has ended, so where is episode 9? We have to stay up to see Mentalist and goodness knows when the 2 x Castle will be up and thus when we get to go to bed tonight. I wish we could watch live on computer as you can with BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

demand5 is an absolute joke in the way The Mentalist is only availabe for 7days!!! On the plus side i managed to watch the entire episode with no adverts

i asked demand 5 if they would extend the time the mentalist was available because of the faults but they cant. the good news is that if anyone has missed episodes ive just seen they are all repeated on saturday 29th and sunday 30th dec on five star. sat. has episode 1 and 2. sun. has episodes 3 - 9 :D

Is this not playing online for anyone else? The ads play absolutely fine (of course they would!) then the episode just doesn't play. I get a black screen, that's it! Very frustrating with only a few days left to watch and the next 1 is tomorrow!

It beggers belief that Demand 5 is still not working properly. Lots of freezing ... most annoying. Why, why, why is it so difficult for Demand 5 to address the myriad of probems on this site? it would be helpful if someone, anyone, would put a notice up!!!

Red John is Jane. He murdered his family and has been suppressing it. The following murders are all carried out by him, that is why he can solve the cases but never catch himself.

Right here's the deal: in the S5 premiere when Jane and Lisbon go to pick up Lorelei from prison, she's gone. Disappeared and replaced with another inmate. As Jane investigates her disappearance, we discover in episode 6 that the FBI blackmailed the prison guard into helping transport her elsewhere. Jane blackmails the guard (he raped someone) into giving the info on where they took Lorelei, to which he complies, only it happens off screen: we just see Jane leave the house afterwards, the police going in to arrest the guard. In the next episode, episode 7, Jane spends the ep asking about high security prisons, looking a plan of the prison and checking out the outside (he throws a stick at the electric fence). It's never said outright, but this is how we then know the maximum security prison to be the location Lorelei was moved to. Jane then proceeds to break her out of said prison in this the latest episode. People are getting confused because A) She was moved from one prison to another and B) Because we don't see/hear the guard tell Jane of her location on screen, he just says "ok, I'll tell you" (or something like that) and we cut to Jane leaving the house. But really, it's pretty simple.

one final advert break cut in half way through an important and dramatic line right near the end of the show, and now it won't run the end of the episode - too many ads, almost all of which stick, making viewing take much longer - I wish this brilliant show could be on another channel where the catch-up service works properly

John, I was in complete agreement. I didn't realise she hadn't escaped. So I did some research and found this comment on some website called the mentalist.wikia.com In Cherry Picked, Jane finds out that Lorelei has been taken away by the prisoner transport driver Walter DeMunn, whom the FBI blackmailed, to a maximum-security federal prison. Lorelei is never officially charged or tried, so her captivity in a federal prison remains a loose end that the writers have not tied up

*SPOILERS* @Jay, it is possible that RJ is Kirkland, however if we're going by this whole handshake argument, how would Martins know Jane shook Kirkland's hand, this happened whilst Martins was in jail with supposedly no connection to the outside world, I guess it is possible that the handshake and the meeting between them was all part of RJ's plan however I think the handshake with Kirkland is a red herring to keep us off the trail, it just seems too obvious

1:32AM and the episode that should have been available this evening isn't available, just like Castle. What on earth is going on at Channel 5? Do we have to complain to Ofcom to get this channel to meet its legal requirements to have shows available for catch up viewing after showing on tv? Looks like it. Please fix your problems, Channel 5. You're not meeting the requirements of your licence. Pity your advertisers, too.

Everything I tried to record on my HDD recorder for the last two weeks was successfully recorded. The two episodes of the Mentalists didn't record either week. Last week's episode seemed to be unavailable on this site. I ended up watching it on TUBE+. Looks like I'll be doing the same this week. Not terribly impressed with the way this site works.

Not sure why lorely was is fed prison, when she was supposed to have escaped in previous episodes..when jane and lisbon were supposed to have custody back of lorely. Since that episode Jane has been interviewing drivers and found out one of them helped her escape. Big mistake in this episode?!

A great episode directed by Simon. Had me on the edge of my seat. Worth watching for the last few minutes alone!! I agree with Con and love the Red John plot...it gets the "little grey cells" working trying to figure out his identity along with Jane.

kittykalt101, you know this current season is already 8 episodes in right? It started almost two months ago. Just checking. Personally, I adore the Red John plot. It sets it aside from other shows and keeps me on my toes. I like procedurals when done well, which this show is, but I have to have a longer running arc, a mythology if you will, that runs throughout the show.
