FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! i have put off watching this episode so I could watch it as US tv aired it (as a 2hr extraviganza)! however, I just couldn't help myself! About the RJ character I thought that maybe it was Jane/Red John split personality but I honestly think that it would be a cop out ending for the writers. How about the security guard who works on the gates and whos son drew Jane a picture? lol its called clutchin at straws me thinks :D

If it's LaRoche, couldn't he have accessed the disks in the evidence room himself, without needing the whole rigmarole with the bomb on Lisbon? Mind you, the same would apply to anyone in the CBI - unless the mole is a cleaner or someone like that, as has been suggested. Of course, Hightower wouldn't have been able to access the evidence room - but nor would she have needed the disks to find out where she was hiding! Tricky one.

I think it is la Roche as the bad guy in this episode would have been unarmed yet he shot him very quickly almost without thinking, but i don't think hes red john but it will be probarly some one we least expect but has been slowly introduced throughout the last series like when it was Rebecca Bosco's secretary when she shot him she was slowly fased in so you didn't realize so i think its la Roche,

Bee, in episode 0116 "Bloodshot" it's shown that Jane's house is in Malibu. Sacramento, where the CBI HQ is, is in the northern part of the state and Malibu is near LA in the south. It wouldn't be very practical for him to commute that far to work. So, it makes sense that he has somewhere else to stay in Sacramento.

I think LaRoche is involved somehow but I really do think that Van Pelts fiance is the mole. Hes close enough to CBI and in a way, the informant could be Van Pelt. Without meaning to shes probably been giving her fiance tonnes of information on Jane and the CBI. The necklace definateky has some significance though Im not yet sure what that could be? They definately arent gtn married tho!! Somethings well gonna happen before or during the ceremony to reveal him for what he is!! And when are Jane and Lisbon gna admit their feelings for one another??!!

Also didn't the Bomber say as he was being led out something like "I know more than you know"...so that was why LaRoche killed him for fear of them finding out that he (LaRoche) was linked to Red John! And what was Jane whispering to Lisbon as they were trying to break into that room, it sounded something like "there's something I have to tell you" ...I couldn't really hear what he was saying!

i have a feeling that LaRoche is the mole as he was looking really shifty when they put the bomber into the car, it was like he already knew that he was trying to escape, and the way he was looking from jane to lisbon when he said 'he tried to escape, he went for a gun' and he let the bomber try to escape for a good reason to kill him, so that the bomber would not be able to be questioned by the CBI. also LaRoche head of the red john case so he can control the case and control what CBI know.

@Smithxbl I think that Hightower showed up at the motel because she found out that guy who was close to her had been murdered and probably figured out that Red John was after her so came to Jane for answers, although I don't know why she threatened him with a gun?!

Seen parts one and two elsewhere. i know who the mole is and the ending. all i can is C5 should have shown it all in one just as i saw it as it was riviting from start to finish, splitting it into two parts will lessen the effect. Great stuff though.

Why is Jane suddenly staying at a motel when he usually either sleeps at CBI headquarters or at his home on that mattress???? And why did La Rouche have to kill that man, he looked mighty suspicious to me!

HUSTLER, in terms of when the story line was actually created by the writers, try nearly a year old. Also, we've known there's a mole since ep9/10 of this season, over 10 episodes ago...what's wrong with an arc of that length? I don't see your point at all.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH AMERICAN TV, I LOVE THE PROGRAM AND WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH BUT WE ARE THE ONES TRICKED, HALF WAY THROUGH SERISE THREE, THE MENTALIST PROGRAM IS STILL PULLING MASSIVE VIEWING FIGURES, SO A MOLE IS INTRODUCED. NO WHIFF OF ONE BEFORE, SO WE ALL FORGET WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR JANE TO FACE RED JOHN AND GET SIDE TRACKED BY THIS SLIGHT OF HAND AS TO THE MOLE! I am sure LaRoche helped the bomber with his handcuffs, he was looking way too shifty. Plus did he really have to shoot to kill? Someone remind me why was there the immediate suspicion that it was RJ after hightower? Is RJ trying to kill/capture/frame her?

I suspect theres a bug in Van Pelts new necklace! Also do not trust LaRoche, I thought something was up as he put that bomber in the car. And the guy who quoted the Blake poem, I thnk he's the mole. Doesn't mean there cant be other helpers, does it? It definately wasn't me!

My guess is LaRoche, Hightower will just be angry that her friend has died but it could be Lisbon. It depends who gave the gas station attendant the key to the handcuffs.

Wow!! Honestly I don't know how they do it but The Mentalist is amazing! I was glued to the TV when this episode was on and I speculate the LaRoche is the mole as he looked all shifty in this episode. I can't wait until next week for the last installment! No G, Brett Stiles is a different character, the Visualise cult leader played by Malcolm Mcdowell in 2x20 'Red All Over' and 3x03 'The Blood On His Hands'. I am referring to the forensics guy, Brett Partridge, played by Jack Plotnick in 1x01 'Pilot' and 2x23 'Red Sky In The Morning'. They have the same first name thats all.

My theory has been for a while that it could be the guy who appears at some of the crime scenes doing the forensics. We havent seen him for a while but he appeared a lot in the earlier series.

I dont know yet, but I'd say its not Van Pelt's Fiancee, or any of the team, including Lisbon. La Rouche, maybe, the director of the CBI - no, the link was too obvious. Its got to be someone in the background who works for the CBI who you wouldnt expect, such as the guy who operates the gate, a cleaner, or a guy someone up in the chain of command, because either way, the mole needs to hear alot, either through the power of their position, or by their invisibility (aka. a cleaner). Either way, we'd have to recognise them for the desired effect of "ooooh it was him". As for who RJ is? my money is on his father, as Jane wouldnt con the woman in the episode where it showed his childhood, yet happily made a living off it afterwards....

1. I must admit that my theory that the mole was van Pelt's fiance is thrown into doubt by Channel Five's synopsis which refers to RJ's "CBI informant" - whereas the fiance is FBI. Oh well, we shall see. 2. Regarding the break at Christmas, I agree this was extremely annoying. The excuse given that this is because of the breaks in the US is rubbish - there is no reason why we in the UK should be behind the US. We could just as easily see the episodes first. There is no logical reason why we should wait for them to air in the US. They are in the can, so they can be shown.

As Bee said, in order for The Mentalist to start around October, only a few weeks behind the US (instead of waiting for early the next year and being ages behind like in seasons 1 and 2) FIVE HAVE TO have the breaks, due to the US themselves having so many short breaks during the season, in order to maintain a reasonable pace behind them. So in short, the US have just as much of a break as us, only spread out more over the season. We got the season in 2 relatively undisturbed halves, where as the US have a mid season break AND a dozen little breaks throughout the second half of the season ranging from 1 to 3 weeks. All this and we still end up a matter of 2 0r 3 weeks behind - seems like a good deal to me.

Bee, no I haven't seen any trailers for this series finale. It would be nice if Channel 5 could be a bit more consistent with putting it up here - never know when it is going to be on. And why was it interrupted at Christmas and Easter - quite spoilt the holidays for me. Other shows seem to carry on as usual. Shame the finale is not showing as a 2 hour slot.

This finale seems very low-key to me compared to the others we have seen in the past.... Trailers for other Channel 5 programmes come thick and fast, it seems on every advert break!

i dont think it is cho coz he takes his job seriously. i dont think it is rigsby coz of his dad and stuff like that. its and cbi mole so i dont think its van pelts fiancee. jane couldnt be rj because he got kidnapped by randomers then released by rj. so that leaves van pelt, not sure about her, she is too nice to be a mole unless she is being threatened. it could be lisbon but i doubt she would risk her job. so that leaves la Roche, he is a suspicious tbh. i like him for it. :)

How long before this one is aired I wonder! I have to say what I cool ending to 22, I do love a bit of Jazz, not too sure about the piece though. Role on episode 23, can't wait!
