I spent 40 mins writing a message and then pressed "post comment". The computer screen came up with some rubbish ... the essence tho ... MESSAGE LOST AND I DID NOT SAVE IT!! I am more than a little upset. Having gone at for a late walk with my dog I am trying again! Matt. I'm sorry you no longer own the restaurant, but I truly hope you get help with your weight. The fact you come across as a fabulous chef (but with a weight problem) makes me think you can become an excellent role model for others. Fernando - you are as good as always. I love your kind eyes in how you present things. I think all of these programmes are great. My last message was concerned that Matt may have lost his parents when they were relatively young (hence him having money to open the restaurant at age 29 ... but I don't know if that's true) Matt, I hope you can get help to control your weight because it is not often we see such ambitious people and talented people (who are not already in the lime-light), who can lay their lives bear to help others - in a way that helps them too… Programmes like "The Biggest Loser" may be appropriate ... but I'm thinking something more specific - might actually help you (and others like you) better. Overweight people (similar to smokers, drug addicts and heavy drinkers) – might think their lifestyle is fine ... until they start suffering the consequences of their lifestyle. The problem of course is problems happen closer to the age of 50+ … rather than 25 – 30 years … when we are all in our prime. The words from an ELO song (a 1970s-80s band) keep ringing in my ears ..."Hold on tight to your Dreams" I pray you do AND get the opportunity to shine. Good Luck! Sarah

I used to like the Restaurant Inspector, however after watching this episode I fail to see how the program gives a fair representation of the town at all. I live in Bridgnorth and know many competitors just in High Town alone. My family restaurant has been running sucessfully for 22 years and cant understand how someone could struggle so much after only 6 months of trading. Obviously a talented chef, not so much a restauranteur as the restaurant has now been closed.

Hello Mat, Just watched your episode and wanted to wish you the best of luck for the future. I understand the problems you have had getting customers in as I own a restaurant myself, up here in Perthshire, we're busy at weekends but not so much during the week. You've had some great advice and you obviously have talent, I hope you manage to lose the weight, not that I'm judging, I'm no sylph myself! But I do know how hard life in a kitchen can be and would hate to see you become a raving success only to have it taken away by, for instance, developing knee or back problems. So.... onwards and upwards, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope for full reservation books for both of us. all the best, Christina

This is a brilliant television series, I love watching it. Matt's weight is very important --he doesn't project a healthy image therefore potential customers would be put off--people would think he lives on junk food & therefore serves the same in his restuarant. Good Luck with the slimmimng Matt. I will be visiting Bridgenorth soon --hope to go to Bambers.

Is the lack subtitles, for the hard of hearing, on these documentaries because 5 get the word 'deaf' confused with 'daft'?

Far too many adverts to have to pause because they stick while streaming. pain in the ass. Ten minutes now and I'm still only on the third advert before I can even see the programme. I DON'T WANT INSURANCE!!!!!! I just wanna watch the damn programme. Is that really too much to ask?

Please will someone remind/enlighten Fernando that a proprietor of a retaurant is correctly pronounced 'RESTAURATEUR' not 'restauranteur'. What a faux pas!

Bente - overindulgence in anything isn't good but what that man's weight says is just as likely to be "my food is great!" as "it's not good for you". You need to assume his customers don't live in the restaurant and therefore don't eat there every night. As the programme highlighted - Fred didn't spend a lot of time front of house so it's seriously unlikely his weight had anything at all to do with it. As for your comment to Fred and Mary - if you think common sense makes people "pretty fat" then I would advise you to see a bulimia specialist.

  • Bente

Fred and Mary, I assume you are pretty fat yourself, since you can't see the connection between a fat chef and missing customers. To most people a fat chef would announce that the food he is cooking and eating himself is not good for him, and therefore not for you either. And a man of that weight is NOT healthy whatever the fat man might think himself.

I totaly agree with Fred what has that young mans weight got to do with the running of the resturant. If I had been him i would have been offended and told him he looks to thin?

I have been a bridgnorth local for a while and have never eaten in Bambers because it looks so uninviting - if the next time I walk past there is a warm, cosy look, a decent appealing menu and a bit of a buzz (ie not empty) I will deffo try it!

I watched this thinking it would just be a spin off of the hotel inspector, but it is really good, Fernando really had to have some balls to tell Matt what he needed telling thats for sure, And Matt defied my initial opinion of him (Advertising for the show showed him swearing! I don't blame him i wouldn't want pure White either!)turning out to be a gracious & intelligent man, passionate about his art. Well done Matt.

Matt is lovely & obviously a great chef & loves his vocation so hope he does really well. Fernando is a real gentleman & it so refreshing to not have all the swearing & silly quirks others have. Great programme.

Fernando is a cool dude. I guess he cant slap the owner with a ghastly taste of decor or he wont have a job

Oh! This is a great move for 5. A well informed and very entertaining show about restaurants that we can actually go to and experience for ourselves rather than the multi-Michelin award-winning places which usually get TV air time and lets face it - most of us can't afford to go to on a regular basis. Fernando seems to be very well informed, fair and genuinely have the interests of the owners at heart. Well done 5! I love it!

Is anything availablew to watch on this channel, other tan the mind numbing drivel UK television calls entertainment, or worse, reality?
