On the menu this week is an Indian that has lost its spice. 31 years ago, Ahmed Faruk opened The Maharaja Tandoori just off London’s Piccadilly Circus and saw queues out of the door. Today, however, it’s a very different story. The 70-year-old is struggling to get enough customers in to break even. Yet Faruk is reluctant to hand over to son, Nash, who’s desperate to take over but has yet to prove to Dad that he’s up to the job. The solution is simple – the restaurant needs to catch up with the times, fast. Can The Restaurant Inspector, Fernando Peire, persuade father and son to take the right path and save this family business from closure?
