The truth about the Hillsborough tragedy which left 96 football fans dead. Almost half of those who died could possibly have survived if better rescue procedures had been in place. This programme unpicks the new evidence and asks: who will be held to account?

the truth will come out bits at a time & not before no one wants to take the blame for the 96 poor souls
The true criminal here is FOOTBALL....Yes i agree police played a part and so did the fans....how can a finger be pointed at one party, it was absolute chaos. How could the few hundred EMService do anything against the thousands of fans.
A new law should be passed that no more than 5 000 fans per team allowed in a stadium. What should have happened is the game should have been cancelled by the clubs...they were the greeding ones wanting the money from the fans.
This is tradegy that could have been avoided by everyone. The country failed these 96 and we should all been blamed.
RIP to the 96 we are all sorrybe
We all knew there was something fishy goin on with this very tragic desaster i was 9yr old when it happened and i remember my late grandpa being really upset we live not far from sheffield iremember it being broad cast on the news at the time and was extremly shocked my heart goes out to all then and today u will all be remembered forever rip and the survivors and the family members of all xxxx
I have just watched this documentary,I was moved by the courage of the families who lost loved ones so traumatically.
The apology is not enough, new inquests should be arranged forthwith. My Respects and Prayers are with all who suffered at and long after Hillsborough.
Brilliant reporting well done channel five, maybe you could repeat the programme on a weekly basis during prime time untill this goverment gets off its ass and brings the full weight of the law to bare down on the criminals that instergated this outrages cover up. I for one will never forget the 96 people who were lost on that fatefull day.
i was devastated when i watched this my uncle is a survivor and he cant even talk about it he has never attended a stadium since. he tried to help people and he was beaten back by the police I just hope that justice is done sorry just isnt enough. thank you channel 5 for showing this RIP those lost you are all much loved and missed none of the fans have anything to be sorry for id like to thank them because my uncle was one that was pulled to the top for that thank you
Thank you for this excellent programme. Recorded it on Wednesday and have just felt brave enough to watch.
I was born and brought up in Liverpool (Anfield) and if someone can be proud of the place they call home this week I am. The devotion and tenacity of the families of the 96 is remarkable. Modern heroes in a time and place when they are sadly in short supply.
Truth at last .... justice soon I hope!
The real truth is that no one should have died at Hillsborough because reding he ndependnt report it should never had even happened.wha a waste of life andcause of so much heartache
so shocking & upsetting sat in tear through most of this I can't belive the people that we are supposed to trust coverd this up its disgusting R.I.P to the 96!
I had a ticket for the match but my mum wouldnt let me go because I was only 14, mothers instinct was right !!
God bless the families of the victims and respect to you all for never giving up hope for justice !!
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE !!!!!!
wow.. at last the truth has come out ..victory for the families just ordinary people.. WHY COULDNT THE POLICE AND ALL THOSE INVOLVED HAVE JUST SAID .SORRY WE COULDNT COPE AND MADE MISTAKES WHY LIE ????
LETS HOPE WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
An excellent documentary. Harrowing. Jail sentences couldn't be any more appropriate for those responsible for the unnecessary deaths and the cover up.
Just watched via on demand as missed last night, fantastic programme, being a Mam I have cried almost all through it. Well done to the people who contributed. I was 16 when it happened so believed what was said at the time, now I know different.
I have been reading the Independent Panel's Report and was so looking forward to seeing this Channel 5 programme. Telephone calls meant that despite my best efforts I only caught bits of 5 and 5+1. Please make this available on Demand 5.
I too had no idea that this programme was on tonight. Airing it tonight is understandable considering the coverage concerning justice for the 96 but, I wish there was more notice. Caught it on 5+1 but the sound, in particular the commentary, was very poor as it was far too low compared with the rest of the audio. All the aaudio required remixing before airing. Very good coverage of recent developments of , even now, an upsetting tragedy.
I didn't know this documentary was on this evening. Therefore I have subsequently missed it. Will it be repeated and if so when? Or will I be able to watch it from Catch Up TV.
