Part 1: Hellos & Menu
Parts 2 & 3: Right To Free Criminal To Care For His Kids?
Was the court of appeal right to free a convicted burglar so he could look after his kids? Single father of five Wayne Bishop was jailed for eight months for burglary and dangerous driving. But he was freed after just six weeks. Why? Because judges said his children could suffer if he was kept in prison. Did the courts get it right? Should criminals be treated differently if they have kids to care for?
We’ll give that plenty of time before it’s over to Rebecca for the rest of the day’s headlines.
Part 4: Today’s Papers
Part 5: Pay Docs To Tell Patients They’re Fat?
From next year, GPs will receive extra cash for telling obese patients the truth about their weight problems. The government reckons it'll help deal with our obesity crisis if patients are confronted head-on with their weight problem. But will it? Surely these patients know they're too tubby? And why should docs be given extra cash just for doing their job?
Part 6: Naomi Campbell Cadbury Ad Racist?
Is this ad racist? It shows a chocolate bar, surrounded by diamonds, with the slogan: “move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town.” Naomi Campbell reckons the ad describes her as chocolate, and says it’s insulting to black people. But makers Cadbury say the ad’s “a light-hearted take on the social pretensions” of the chocolate. What do you think? Are Cadbury guilty of racism? Or just culpable of printing a humorous ad that’s put Naomi’s beautifully formed nose out of joint?
Part 7: Showers: How Long To Get Clean?
How long do you need to stay in the shower to be properly clean? One Sunday Times Magazine reader wrote to “Dr” Ozzy Osbourne asking just that, saying he thinks five seconds is plenty. The guy’s family, however, reckon that’s nowhere near long enough. I have to say; I’m with the family- but what about you?
