THE WRIGHT STUFF - TUESDAY 24TH JULY 2012

PART 2/3 - CASH IN HAND AS BAD AS TAX DODGING?
First up is paying a cleaner, baby-sitter or tradesman cash in hand as bad as millionaires pouring money into aggressive tax avoidance schemes? A Tory minister thinks it is. But paying cash doesn’t automatically mean the recipient’s gonna fiddle the books. And even if they do, don’t ordinary people have the right to the odd perk - a little bit of discount - when MPs get free tickets to the Olympics, helping with their housing etc.

PART 4 - TODAY'S PAPERS

PART 5 - HAS OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY LIT UP YOUR LIFE?
And then we’re gonna hear your thoughts on £5m olympic torch relay which comes to an end on Friday after 70 tremendous or should I say tedious days? Are you one who feels the relay has brought the country together? Or maybe you feel it’s been little more than an exercise in self-indulgence - giving desperate celebs and corporate sponsors a chance to get in the papers?

PART 6 - LET BALE BALEIWAI STAY!
After your calls on that we’ll find out if youn support Bali Bah-la-wee’s bid to stay in the UK? The Fijian-born Lance Corporal has given the British army 13 years service. Normally four is enough for a Commonwealth trooper to get citizenship but a change in the law means a scrap Bali had with a colleague now counts as criminal conviction and that’s enough to boot him out. Is that fair?

PART 7 - ARE IRISH JOKES NOT FUNNY ANY MORE?
And finally: Are Irish jokes not funny any more? Olympian Daley Thompson was accused of racism after quipping that a tattoo artist who misspelt the word Olympic must’ve been Irish. Ok it might not be funny but is it offensive? I thought the irish loved a good joke...

To be in the army is a lot of discipline required. So for him to be deemed of good character is not good. He shows good character in all aspects

Re cash in hand/tax avoidance: MPs get public subsidised cheap drinks in the commons bars. Why don't they start by paying the full amount of tax on alcohol from their generous salaries !

Matthew, I didn't get a chance to watch Tuesdays show, so I don't know whether you broached the lighting of the Olympic cauldron again, Why can't it be a paralympian, my choice, Ellie Simmons.

Bale is married to my neice Kim. They have 2 lovely kids. Bale has left the army after 13 yrs' service to give them a better family life. It is so unfair that he is being treated like this. He served alongside Prince Harry so maybe Harry could have a word with his mum & ask her to do something to help one of her Commonwealth soldiers. Also, perhaps his mum could speak to the Royal British Legion. I understand that they wont give any support to Bale because he isn't a British citizen. That is just shameful.

LET BALE BALEIWAI STAY! As a Ex- Soldier of over 10 years service, I am ashamed that the way the Government and MPs have hidden from this and have not intervened and they should also make sure the Law is changed so this can never happen again to any Ex - Service personnel. Col Bob Stewart MP, my old commanding Officer now a Member Of Parliament, Sir, get a grip !
