After a disappointing test series that saw Graeme Smith’s side replacing England at the top of the international rankings, the home side will be keen to make amends as the captaincy passes to Stuart Broad for this shortened form of the game.
At the end of a long season, the England squad includes several relatively fresh faces. Luke Wright and Michael Lumb return to the England camp, along with Eoin Morgan, Jade Dernbach and Craig Kieswetter. South Africa also ring the changes, with AB de Villiers taking over the captaincy from Graeme Smith. Both sides will be regarding this short series as a warm-up for the World T20 tournament in Sri Lanka, which starts later this month.
