Commercial development

In September 2004, Channel 5 launched a specialist, client-facing commercial development division.

This division was established primarily to explore revenue opportunities outside traditional spot advertising. The Commercial Development team was formed in response to an increasingly diversified UK broadcasting marketplace.

It is the Commercial Development team whose key focus is to drive incremental revenue, whilst developing its brands beyond the television screen.

The platforms used to meet this remit include DVDs, book publishing, merchandise, live events and telephony interaction with viewers.
