The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. England and Wales were among the first countries to introduce animal welfare law and we were set up to enforce that law. The dedicated team of staff and volunteers that drive our charity forwards have committed their lives to fighting and preventing cruelty against all animals.

Every year, the RSPCA takes in and cares for more than 114,000 animals, from pets to wildlife, and everything in between at our centres, hospitals and clinics. Once they have received the care they need, they’re either released back into the wild or are found new and loving homes. We also campaign to improve the lives of animals, whether they are in the home, the wild, the lab or the farm, as well as inspiring a new generation to care for animals through education projects aimed at young people from all walks of life. We want to create a world which is kinder to animals and we can only do that with your support.

What we do:

• We get more than a million calls to our 24-hour cruelty hotline every year and investigate more than 140,000 complaints of cruelty and neglect towards animals

• We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome thousands of animals each year

• We raise awareness of the welfare needs of animals and offer advice and support to owners to help them look after their animals

• We campaign for changes to the law to improve the lives of animals, whether they are pets, wildlife, or animals in farming or research

We work internationally to improve the way animals are treated across the world, whether it’s working with law makers, educators or those who work and care for animals every day.
