Eamonn and Ruth were joined in the studio by Bowza and his owner Don Cox. They’d found out that Bowza is a hero dog having helped save the life of  79-year-old woman who had fallen whilst out on a walk.

On a cold winter’s day Don was also out walking with Bowza and his other dog Little Kaz when they came across the woman and her daughter who’d been waiting for an ambulance. As it was so cold there were concerns that hypothermia might become an issue for the casualty. Guided by Don, Bowza lay next to the injured woman helping to keep her warm. When the paramedics did arrive, they thanked Bowza and Don for acting so heroically saying Bowza had undoubtedly helped to save her life in such extreme cold conditions.

Having heard about Bowza’s heroism Do The Right Thing wanted to reward Bowza for his life saving actions so Eamonn and Ruth awarded Bowza with ‘Eamonn and Woof’s 2019 Dog of The Year’ award.

But saving lives is just one of Bowza’s impressive skills. Bowza has a fine singing voice and is also a huge fan of the Tuneless Choir having sung along at home with them when they first featured on an earlier episode of the Do The Right Thing series. By popular demand The Tuneless Choir returned to Do The Right Thing and Bowza sang his heart out as they performed their tuneless rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For A Hero.
